Training for Cross Country Running
In Class 3 P.E. we are training for Cross Country running. There are a few competitions coming up and we really want to be good enough to take part. Mrs Featherstone is training us each week, and every week it is getting easier and easier.
Yesterday four of us in year 4 went to Newent Park Run to run with Mrs Featherstone and the distance we had to run was 5km. We had to get up really early on Saturday as the race started at 9am. We had to do two laps, a bit of it was in the Newent school field and the other bit was around the outside through the woods which was very hard. Poppy feel over in the woods and even with a bleeding knee she carried on and finish. We all did really well and ran the whole 5km without stopping.
There were 77 runners of all ages (most were adults), we were the youngest 4 runners. Here are our times and places:-
56th - Jimmy Brierley - time 32:33
57th - Isabel Smith - time 32:58
69th - Abigail Brierley - time 36:26
70th - Poppy Smith - time 36:26
We really enjoyed running at Newent, it was very hard but very fun. We are going back to Newent next week and are going to train at home and school so we can try and beat our time.
