As a Church of England school, we keep Christian values at the heart of what we do.
Every half term, we learn about a different Christian value.
We think about these values as oart of our daily worship, where we reflect upon the teachings of Jesus. We also try hard to achieve these values both at home and in school.
If we demonstrate our values at home we are encouraged to reflect on what we have done and write it down of a leaf. These are then added to our values tree in the foyer.
This term we will be focussing in school on the value JUSTICE
Every class in school has their own reflection area. We can come here to think about our value and write or draw our ideas, to look at a Bible, or to have some quiet reflection.
Each week, teachers nominate one child from their class who has been working hard to achieve our termly value. The children’s pictures are then displayed in the hall, and certificates are sent home.
Worship at Redmarley C. of E. Primary Academy aims to reflect the essential features within the rich traditions of Anglican prayer and Worship, whilst developing the individual, in accordance with the school’s aims and values.
Pupils are given the opportunity to consider the Bible as a source of inspiration and learning. They are encouraged to reflect upon Christian Symbols and their use in worship; to observe the cycle of the Anglican year, to participate in the regularity and set order of Anglican Worship, to learn traditional responses and prayers, and to discover the value of silence and reflection within the context of Christian Worship.
To provide pupils with variety in their experience of worship, acts of worship may take the form of a whole school act of worship for all pupils or separate acts of worship for pupils in different age groups, classes or school groups.
We hold a daily act of Collective Worship in our school, as set out below.
Monday Chosen time Class worship – led by Class Teacher
Tuesday 1.25-1.45 Whole school worship – led by Jill Bond
Wednesday 1.25-1.45 Whole school worship – led by HT or Worship Lead.
Thursday 1.25-1.45 Whole school worship – led by staff member.
Friday 1.25-1.45 Celebration and awards – led by HT
At special times of the year, e.g. Easter, Christmas, Harvest Festival, or leaving day for Year 6, we invite parents and friends to join us in worship as this promotes the community spirit of the school and is a practical demonstration of the way that home and school work together to support the achievements of our children and uphold the schools values.
Children also attend Church services at other times under parental supervision – Meeting Point services, Mothering Sunday, Christingle, Christmas Celebrations and Carol Services.
Our worship leaders are children from years 4, 5 and 6.
They plan and deliver whole school worship. They also help to monitor Worship by taking feedback from children, and completing evaluations.
Any parent can request permission for their child to be excused from attending religious worship by contacting Mrs Smith to discuss arrangements for alternative provision.
